January Update Time to Sign Up for Wabi Sabi Farm

Posted 1/15/2017 1:05pm by Ben Saunders.

Hello Wabi Sabi Farm Friends!

I hope everyone has had a great 2017 so far!  For the farm this year seems to be the year of change as there are many new things going on.  The biggest one is that a portion of the land has been sold.  I have been renting this ground from Angela Tedesco for the last 4 years.  A major goal of hers (with the land) was to donate it to a non-profit group in the hopes it would remain a farm for ever!  In order to help achieve this goal approx. 7 acres of the farm was sold (the majority being fallow/non-production ground on the East edge of the farm).  The remainder of the farm has been donated to Practical Farmers of Iowa.  There was a bit of production ground sold as well and unfortunately it included the majority of our Asparagus patch.  Luckily, the procrastinator that I am, I never got around to plowing under the old asparagus patch so am realistically hoping we will still be getting asparagus this season!  I know there were quite a few questions last year about what was going on at the farm and now just wanted to make you all aware of this major change!

Another significant change this season is that we are switching from Tuesday to Wednesday deliveries, but will still keep Friday as well.   As many of you know we did the Des Moines and Ames Farmers Markets (alternating Saturdays) last season with some good success.  This season we are going to be adding one or two week day markets as well and to accommodate them are needing to switch CSA delivery day to Wednesday.  Even with the addition of a few more markets, like always the CSA is our top priority!

Enough talk about change!  One thing that is not changing is the CSA prices which will continue to bring you the highest quality Certified Organic Vegetables weekly!
